In Essence it’s a price cut for SEAT’s MPV
SEAT has slashed the prices of its Altea MPV model and added a cheaper new entry version.
First rung on the ladder from the beginning of August will be the 1.6-litre Altea Essence, which loses some equipment including air conditioning and costs £11,695.
Currently the cheapest Altea is the Reference model at £12,885 which, from the beginning of August, will fall to a new price of £12,195.
The new entry-level Essence model is available in petrol guise only and comes with front, side and curtain air bags, front electric windows, CD player, remote central locking and a height-adjustable driver’s SEAT.
The Reference version adds the air con and also comes in 1.9-litre diesel form at £13,195.
Reference Sport models gain front fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, sports SEATs and a leather steering wheel and gear knob. Prices are £12,495 for the petrol and £13,495 for the diesel.
At the top of the pile are the Altea Stylance models, which gain two-zone climate control, rear electric windows and audio controls on the steering wheel.
Cruise control, a trip computer, height-adjustable passenger SEAT, front fog lights and headlights that stay on for a minute when the vehicle is left are also included.
Stylance models also have the option of a Tiptronic transmission on the 2.0-litre petrol version. Prices are £13,195 for the 1.6-litre model, £14,195 for the diesel and £16,195 for the 2.0-litre Tiptronic.
Altea Sport models come with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engines and have sports suspension, standard ESP and sports SEATs. Both engines are coupled to six-speed manual gearboxes and the TDI comes with the option of a DSG automatic gearbox. Prices are £15,995 for the 2.0 FSI, £16,695 for the 2.0 TDI and £17,595 for the 2.0 TDI with DSG.
